My first Colourpop order: Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick Review

IMG_7872I’ve been meaning to order some stuff from ColourPop for a while and finally got around to doing so and I couldn’t be more satisfied. I didn’t go crazy right away as I wanted to get only a few things and see the quality but I will definitely be ordering again – soon!

I was especially interested in the ultra matte liquid lipsticks because I love wearing matte lippies during fall/winter months and the colours are just gorgeous so I got 4 of those: Trap, Midi, Kapow and Seesaw.

I couldn’t resist so I got 2 highlighters as well, Wisp and Teasecake. I mean they are so affordable. $6USD for lipglosses and $8 USD for highlighters.

ULTRA MATTE LIQUID LIPSTICKS

Trap is my favourite. It is such an unusual shade that it’s even hard to describe it but the best way to put it is it’s a mauve/deep grey cool shade.

Midi is a perfect nude for every day. Very beige and neutral.

Kapow is similar to Trap but darker and more leaning towards brown.

Seesaw is a cool lavender/pink.

Pros:

– very pigmented
– extremely long lasting
– gorgeous shade
– no smell or taste
– if matte is what you are looking for, it doesn’t get more matte than these!
– applies evenly

Cons:

The only thing that I can say is that the texture bothers me a bit but that’s because as much as I love the look of a matte lip, I hate the feel of it. But it’s funny because as long as you don’t lick your lips you feel nothing, when I lick my lips it feels like they are rough and chapped and gross. But that’s what you get with matte textures. Can’t escape that.

HIGHLIGHTERS:

Wisp is a gorgeous golden shade like champagne colour.

Teasecake is a golden rosey pink shade.

I really don’t have anything bad to say about the highlighters. Some say they’re not very pigmented and they’re not but I don’t like highlighters to be so in your face unless I am going out for the night and really want my highlight to pop. But they are buildable.

Their consistency is different than any other highlighter I’ve tried. It’s a creamy mousse. And it feels wet to the touch!

They blend beautiful into the skin. Although they may look glittery, they’re not, once applied. They are very naturally looking and give a subtle but beautiful glow.

All in all, I love it all and I will order again.

      1. I liked everything I ordered and I’m very happy with the quality. For now I only did a review on one palette, but I used the products in some looks already! Before ordering I searched a review about every product, so that’s why there weren’t any disappointments for me šŸ™‚ I would definitely recommend ordering from them šŸ™‚ Actually they got something wrong and sent me another identical package a week after another one šŸ˜€ So I got double for my money lol

  1. I was looking at Trap (because of FB *wink*) and then Kapow was on my list as well (great minds! haha). I definitely want to get some more lippies for Fall. I love the LOOK of matte but hate the feel but for this price, i feel like i’m willing to purchase and its not so bad.

Great review. I’ll be purchasing. You look gorg in every photo, boo.

    1. Thank you my lovely. I also hate the feel of matte lippies but I roll with it cuz I love the look and like you said the price is right. For some matte lipsticks you can put a thin layer of chapstick underneath to make it more softer but not this one. I’ve tried and it ended in the lipstick turning into waxy substance that felt so heavy on my lips lol. Fail.

      1. that is REALLY good to know, because that’s usually what i do. seems like i’ll have to use a lip scrub and prep them really good beforehand šŸ˜‰
