NYX Dream Catcher Eyeshadow Palette: product review

CYMERA_20141028_221859

I know that to some of you NYX products are no big deal as they are easily accessible. That’s not the case here in Toronto. While we do have NYX cosmetics, they are very limited. We don’t get everything that US carries, so when I found this palette in Urban Outfitters ( not available at a drug stores here, that I’ve seen) I was quite excited.

There are three different colour combinations of this palette: Golden Horizons, Dusk Til Dawn and the one I got, Stormy Skies.

I really love all 10 of the colours in this palette and I also love the fact that you have matte and shimmery ones. I feel with the combination of these, you can create some nice looks for daytime and more dramatic for the night.

However, I must say that, when I started swatching I was a little disappointed. Here is why:

– not very pigmented
– some lighter shades are barely noticeable and take quite a few times to build up
– the shimmery shadows are a bit chalky

With that being said, in these swatches on my arm you can see that although some are not pigmented, others really are.

I still like it and don’t regret the purchase and can’t wait to create some looks with it. This is my first impression on it so we shall see how I feel once I start using this.

The palette was $18 CAD so not expensive but not very cheap either. I feel it should have been better quality for the buck but it does have what it takes to create some nice nude and earthy looks.

Do you guys have this NYX palette? What are your impressions/opinions? Do share!
