Merry Orthodox Christmas! Hristos se rodi

ImageToday is my Christmas! My other Christmas! Well half of me anyway LOL. Confusing right? I am half Catholic and half Orthodox and Eastern Orthodox Christmas is today, January 7th. I am not a religious person at all, and I was brought it up in a very NON religious household but I am spiritual. I also do acknowledge all my holidays out of respect for my grandparents and great grandparents.

So very Merry Christmas to all my fellow Orthodox people. I wish you all peace and blessings.
I was born in Bosnia and Herzegovina, lived in Croatia and I am half Croat and half Serb but at the end of the day we are all really the same people from former Yugoslavia. (long and complicated history) so in our language we would not say Merry Christmas per say we would say “Hristos se rodi” (which is what you see in my title) and translated means Jesus is born… and the person you say it is supposed to reply with “Vaistinu se rodi” (rather than Merry Christmas to you too lol) which means It is true, he has been born.

The reason I chose this photo that you see is what I remember from my childhood back home from grandma’s house.

So I hope I didn’t bore you guys with this but hey it can’t be all about make up and fashion all day every day lol

  1. Happy Orthodox Christmas love, I think it’s nice of you to write about that and about your country and childhood, it’s part of who you are so is your blog and it’s nice to know the little things besides makeup and fashion ^_^
