I need your help and opinions on selecting my next hair colour PLEASE? (pics inside for you to select)

CYMERA_20130813_133815(1)

For the past 7 years I’ve had my hair red/magenta colour ON and OFF. I’ve played around with black, and different coloured tipsΒ  as you can see in these pics but mainly it’s been FIERY RED. I love my bright crazy red hair. LOVE LOVE LOVE. But I go through these stages where I get bored and need a change. It’s that time NOW. I really want to dye my hair purple and need you guys to tell me which one of these shades you like the most!

What happens normally after I change my red hair, I instantly regret it lol because that’s how much I love it and I don’t feel myself without it. When I see another girl with my magenta colour I am jealous but I am bored of it now.

I’ve had purple tips before (pic below) but I want my entire hair purple now.

ImageHere is what I would like it to be: bright and vibrant just like my red but….purple.
I don’t want the punk rocker purple hair look but I just want it classy yet fashionable.
Also, am I crazy for wanting purple hair at the age of 31? Yes I am 31 lol.

So please tell me which one you like best? THANKS DOLLS!

1. This one is gorgeous and my personal fave. It’s bright and loud but still done properly. It’s one toned all the way through with slight lavender highlights/lowlights.

Image

2. This one is also nice but it’s two toned. Bright violet and some deep purple/blue tones throughout.

Image

3. This one is not as loud as I’d like but I do like it. It is violet purple with some fuschia undertones.

Image

4. This is more of a bright purple almost fuschia. My least favourite but I still like it.

5. I believe this last one and number 1 are similar. This is just a solid bright violet purple shade.

So here you have it. Which one of these 5 you like the best based on what I said I’ve wanted to achieve. I know this is going to take a lot of bleaching to get rid of the red and I have finally repaired my hair and made my curls healthy again but I dont’ care, I need change! LOL

Thank you!!!

  1. Gosh I love purple too! I wanted lilac hair but m,y husband thought it wouldn’t be appropriate with 2 small kids,…oh well πŸ˜€ I don’t blame him. But back to YOUR hair πŸ™‚ I think you will be stunning with purple hair, my favs are 1st and 3rd =)

    1. Thanks girl ! I also thought purple may not be appropriate.. I don’t have any kids but just for work and age appropriate you know… but I think as long as it’s done tastefully it should be ok.
Thank you for your input… those are the 2 I like as well… ❀

  2. These colors suits women with very pale skin (just look at the girls on the photos). You have to consider your skin tone first to choose a harmonizing shade. The colors you have picked out are all cold tones. I don`t know that on your photo you`re wearing a darker foundation, bronzer, blush or not, but if you`re not as pale as the girl at the last photo, consider a warmer tone. Your eyes are also brown – don`t forget that, either, it`s very important. The girls eyes here are light green. I saw the 3 photos you posted of yourself, and advise you to look around among shades as on your 4th photo. It gives you a youthful and dynamic look.

    1. Thanks Sylvie. Those are all good points. My skin tone changes. I am pretty white lol… I do wear bronzer and tend to tan in the summer… but since the summer is winding down I always change my hair for fall/winter. Although I like the first photo, I am thinking the 3rd would suit me the most as the purple is more subtle and warmer and that girl has brown eyes.

  3. Just one more thing: go to a very good & professional hair stylist. Who is not only after your money, but also honest with you. Perhaps the shade you want will be a mixture of 2-3 colors.

    1. Oh no I never go to a professional lol. I have always dyed my own hair. ALWAYS. Never had my hair dyed professionally. I studied hair, colours, mixtures, hues, bleaching, lifting, etc… so I do know a thing or two lol.. I do my own red. Since I started experimenting with hair colour at 18 it’s always just been me. I cut my own hair too. Thanks for your help though. It’s much appreciated.

      1. No far from it. I actually have a degree in psychology! That’s how far from a hair stylist I am πŸ™‚ I just never trusted anyone with my hair after a few bad experiences and took it up as an extra hobby because I was passionate about it and took a course a few years back to learn all the little extra things. From then on I did my own hair and my friends and family and it somehow worked.

      2. Sounds very familiar. πŸ™‚ I dyed my own hair for 13 years, exactly because of the same reasons as you. I always changed tones, colors, shades. My hair not really looked healthy and I never reached the same shade I picked out for myself. Although I considered myself a `pro`, because after a few years I knew more about hair dying than any amateur. πŸ™‚ Then I paid the price. It cost more than to visit a hair stylist every month. Although my hair is healthy now, and my real hair color looks great. Promise me one thing: you`ll visit a really good hair stylist. Just once. Please, please! And it`s not because you know nothing about your hobby!!!

      3. Lol. I do have a girl I visit from time to time when I want a really good trim and a real good treatment. I fried my hair badly a few years back which killed my curls and made my hair a wool like texture. It cost me a lot to repair it. Its come a long way. But to make you happy next trim is at a hair stylist πŸ™‚ sounds good???

      4. And the next coloring, ether. πŸ™‚ You promised!!! πŸ˜€ And visit a pro. Even if just this time. I want you to be happy with your hair. Sounds good? πŸ˜‰

      5. I am happy though. I am happy when I colour it myself because they never give me what I want exactly. My hair is pretty healthy now and curls have come back. And its no thanks to any professional. Its all me and I dye it every 2 months. But trim I promise πŸ™‚ don’t worry I wont disappoint. Ill post a pic and you can judge πŸ™‚

  4. 1 & 3 are my favorites even though they are so opposite. My only issue with #1 is I feel like it could go very wrong if not done properly…. the color in the picture is so vibrant and that high/lo light which almost has a white tone can go south quick.

    1. You’re very right. I don’t think I would even bother with the hi/low lights. Just go straight purple. I have bright red now so I’m afraid ill end up with some tones though as the bleach wont lift it evenly across. But I’m leaning towards 3. Thanks for your input! Much appreciated πŸ™‚

  5. No you are not crazy for wanting to do this… Be who you are! I’m 29 and I do the wild hair colors alot, I find that leaving a small bit of a natural color ( Black-ish color) on top makes life so much easier. You can let your roots go a little longer and it takes a little bit of the =O out of having un-natural hair! With that said, I like 1 and 4, the loud ones!

    1. You know what? You’re absolutely right. I used to say the same thing just cuz I’m whatever age or I have an office job and some may frown upon my fashion and beauty choices doesn’t mean I should kill my personality. Thank you!!!!

  6. I like 1 and 3. 3 would probably be easier to maintain. However I don’t like how the roots seem so much lighter then the rest of her head

    1. Yeah they are lighter, well actually they are a totally different shade. They are more fuschia rather than violet purple. I dont know I kind of like the two tones together like that but I think just straight purple may look better.
